Hello, beautiful people! Today I am going to be telling you 10 things that I think everyone should have this winter. The first snow-pocalypse occurred last Friday and Saturday– Yes, I literally mean Friday and Saturday (This was the 22-23 of January), it actually did snow for two day straight. Anyway, the first snow storm of 2016 happened last week to let us know that winter has arrived. Winter is a brutal season, slapping us with dry, cold winds and frosty air, but we are here today because I’m going to recommend to you everything that you need in order to survive this winter. Enjoy!
1.) Sweaters. These are definitely a must for everyone whether you’re a guy or a girl. Sweaters keeps you very cozy and warm during this time of year. This year, I found my love for turtlenecks. Turtlenecks are definitely a huge trend this winter because they are so cute and keep your neck super warm!
When I was about 9-11 years old, I hated turtlenecks. My mom made me wear them all the time and I hated it. When I finally won that battle and discovered scarves, I made fun of turtlenecks all the time. It’s funny how your personal style can evolve over the years. Now, I’m completely in love with turtlenecks! If you don’t have one, I definitely recommend you go and pick one up. All of the ones I am wearing are linked below!

2.) Layers. These have been a staple in my winter wardrobe for years now. I absolutely love layering button down shirts with sweaters. It always looks so cute and is definitely a go-to outfit when I don’t know what to wear. This looks super stylish and preppy and I always get compliments. You can also add a statement necklace to bring it all together!
Gray Shirt- Gap
Flannel- Lucky Brand (this is suuuuper old)
Gingham Button Down- (SIMLIAR)
Sweater- TJ Maxx (Unavailable)
3.) Fleece-Lined Leggings. You definitely want to have a thick pair of leggings this winter. I know this may have opposing thoughts, but in my opinion, leggings are not pants. I wear leggings under skirts and dresses and tunics, not as a replacement for jeans. I don’t know about you but I find jeans super comfy. Anyway, if you are a person who wears leggings as pants, you’ll need some fleece-lined leggings to keep warm. You could also rock a pair of fun-printed leggings under some ripped jeans.
4.) Waterproof Boots. I recommend waterproof boots 100%. I’ve always loved Chelsea boots, but never found a pair that I thought were worth the purchase. My mom found these ones and I fell in love with them. They’re super glossy, black, waterproof Chelsea boots. No one at my school has anything like these and I got a ton of compliments the first day that I wore them. Waterproof boots will definitely help you from getting your favorite suede booties or UGGs ruined in the rain.

5.) Gloves. These babies are an essential in life when it’s the cold season. I have horrible circulation and my hands get cold super fast, so I love a nice pair of gloves in the winter time, so if you don’t have any, it’ll definitely benefit you to pick up a pair. These keep my hands from loosing feeling from being so cold, especially since I carry a binder. It’s just so lovely how my second period class in a separate building from them school that takes a couple minutes to walk to, so I always need a pair of gloves handy. Luckily for me, the semester is almost over. Thank God.
6.) Cold Weather Headband. If you aren’t a hat person– or in my case have too much hair– you need to get a cold weather headband. This is one of my favorites of the fashion section. It keeps your ears super warm and if you want to put your hair in a ponytail, like so, it looks super fashionable! Mine is from Walmart, but I’m sure you can find a plain-Jane gray cold weather headband anywhere.
7.) Lip balm. If you’re like me, during the cold weather season, your lips get super dry. This is why lip balm is essential. My favorite lip balms to use are the EOS ones. My lips will actually bleed if their dry for a long time. I also can’t stand dry lips, so I always have one of these on me. The flavors shown in this picture are Summer Fruit, Blueberry Acai, and Honeydew. Everyone and their mother has heard of EOS lip balms, but if you haven’t tried them before, do yourself a favor and get one!
8.) Lotion. Along with dry lips during the cold weather season, I also get excessively dry skin. My hands and feet are what get dry the easiest, so I have to make sure I’m keeping them moisturized at all times. This is just a Kirkland Signature Body Lotion that I picked up at Costco in a pack of three. I really like the light, gentle scent of this lotion as well.
9.) Travel Mug. I bring tea or hot chocolate to school almost every day and I always want to make sure I have a good quality travel mug. This one’s kind of old, but it gets the job done and keeps my drinks warm.
10.) Tea. Along the lines of warm drinks, tea is essential for me during the winter. I have at least one cup of tea everyday. A lot of people don’t like tea, but I just adore it. I like to add a splash of almond milk and a teaspoon or two of blue agave sweetener, and I’m good to go. If I come home from school one day ad it’s raining or snowing, a warm cup of tea instantly warms me up. While I drink my tea, I love to read books. I’ve never been a non-fiction reader, but this memoir by Kate Betts is amazing! I definitely recommend it.
